Today is also ending--
at the bottom of the snowstorm
the gigantic sun

HOMA

Random flames in colors

meld unnamed images of fire

freezing on the kitchen walls

the soot thickens solitude

with dimming watery eyes

and asthmatic mantra

mother offers homa

each day and night

but no Agni is pleased

.

I WALK AGAIN

Rheumatic walking

the crippling lumbar crisis

they pity and pass

the waiting sun

at the naked tree’s corner

my hazy vision

managing to survive

with repair and maintenance

ageing road

revives the dying nerves

her momentary smile in sleep–

I walk again

.

JOURNEY

To win elections

they sponsor chaos chanting

Modi  Modi

kill tongues that utter dissent

or oppose foolishness

in the name of Ram

cow, love-jehad, reform

close all windows

making dysfunctional

the holy constitution

with small deities

watching periodic tango

pop up dinners

global collaborations

in newer territories

without money pouring in

dreams rise and sell

feet forward, head backward

relishing lies of

gourmet journey

.

RESURRECTION

The deities are dumb

so they speak

louder and louder

vie with each other

for godhood

descend from mosque top

to Supreme Court

now await

resurrection

.

NOISY SILENCE

Unemptied

the cup of remorse–

begging bowl

before the dumb deity

years of noisy silence

all is transience

New haiku

snowfall
I breathe in
the entire sky

this weather!
snow from the east
snow from the west

tiny world
much in little,
thrives

falling snow
I am here
nothing but snow

the green frog
on the green leaf -
green.

New haiku

winter cold
birds foraging
in nearby cities

miso with mustard
hidden for years
your smile

with different fillings
sweets for all seasons
your smile

January sun
from the horses’ breath
warm

painted
by a local artist
snowfall

more then
our differences
in differences

New haiku

moon tonight!
she still holds
all her secrets

a lot of fun -
from moonlight
my shadow

chaos and chaos between the two ...silence

end of winter -
the scarecrow gets
new robes

 not too much
not too little ...
just right

Magic Roadside Pond

Under the water
Trees grow in patches of sky;
Magic roadside pond.

Against the Pale Sun

Against the pale sun
Silhouetted tree stands out
In gray morning light.

Signals

signals in the night
steady now, keep pace, keep track
geese on route north
-
signaler i nat
rolig nu, hold farten, hold kursen

gæs på ruten nord

Winter

some nights’ sky is clear
dark  cold  and yes December
remember the stars
-
nogle nætter er himlen klar
mørk - kold - og ja december

husker du stjernerne
Ice puddles again;
Winter dons it frozen shape.
Dim geometry.

cherished mold gardens
shrivel in Seattle's drought
Winter's been cancelled
flitting through the glades
haiku shouted to the wind
gleeful transience

of frostbite, others too have hoped

(Not to be Repaid)

A word of explanation. I had uploaded this ostensibly to my blog (www.sarvananda.blogspot.com) but didn't look closely enough so it appeared here. Oh well. Enjoy!

Water in the glass
Shakes on the kitchen table
As I am writing.

Noiseless clod of snow
Falling swiftly to the ground
Followed by others.

 Shadow on the tree
Last for only a second
Then cloud swallows it.

 Scattered through the snow
Thin branches are silhouettes
Of a Spring to be.

Lines along the snow
Borrowed from adjacent fence;
(Not to be repaid).

 Many woodpeckers
Have feasted on this old stump.
Now, it's mainly holes.

Lying off the road
Small Siberian tundra;
(Visiting Woodstock?)

The road is empty;
All I have for company
Is my monkey mind.
